A defemder of civil rights and the 15th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Claudio Teehankee was born on April 18, 1918. Teehankee distinguished himself when he upheld the rights of the people even during the height of the martial law period. He also played a vital role swearing in President Corazon Aquino as the country’s 11th President. Teehankee served as Chief Justice until his retirement on April 18, 1988. He died on Nov. 27, 1989, at the age of 71. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
