Today is the 106th birth anniversary of National Scientist and biophysical chemist Julian Banzon. Recognized for his outstanding contributions in the field of chemistry in the Philippines, he was conferred the title of National Scientist by President Corazon Aquino in July 1986. He died on Sept. 15, 1988 at the age of 80. Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
