Police beef up security in public places ahead of holidays

MANILA, Philippines – More police in Metro Manila are securing populated areas as the Christmas holidays are just around the corner, a spokesman said Wednesday.

Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., Philippine National Police spokesman, said that 400 officers from the Regional Public Safety Battalion of the National Capital Region Police Office have been deployed to airports, seaports, bus terminals and train stations.

The move was made to ensure the public’s protection and to prevent those coming from the provinces FROM FALLING prey to criminals.

He said that security measures in malls and other places of convergence have also been doubled.
