No smoking while on duty, NCRPO chief reiterates

MANILA, Philippines—The Metro police leadership is keeping its eye on its men who are still smoking while on duty.

National Capital Region Police Office director Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said that although they have been carrying out the directive that prevents police officers from smoking when on duty or in their uniforms, they were looking to make the its implementation stricter.

“No smoking while on duty and while in uniform,” said the NCRPO chief.

Early this year, Purisima ordered his men to avoid smoking in public and to observe proper decorum during work. He stated that violators would face sanctions when caught.

He also urged the public to inform the NCRPO of any violators of the said directive. Purisima said that the public can send in text messages or call the NCRPO through the numbers 09158888181 or 09999018181.
