CANBERRA, Australia—Qantas Airways says Australian domestic and international flight schedules will be disrupted Friday due to industrial action by aircraft mechanics.

The mechanics’ union has told its 1,600 members around Australia to walk off the job for an hour from 9 a.m. Friday local time. Work will stop at 2300 Greenwich Mean Time Thursday on Australia’s east coast and at 0100 GMT in the west.

Qantas executive Lyell Strambi said in a statement Thursday that the airline has canceled 31 domestic flights and delayed 46 flights, most of them domestic. No international flights have been canceled.
