MANILA, Philippines—With a monstrous traffic jam expected due to the construction of Skyway 3, Malacañang renewed its appeal to motorists and commuters for understanding.

In a media briefing Monday, Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda sought to quell public apprehension by citing the “terrible” traffic that the construction of Skyway 2 in the south, which starts from Sucat to Alabang, had caused.

“I know that this is going to be a difficult situation for trafficgoers,” Lacierda said. “The construction was really massive that’s why there was so much traffic, and yet we went through it, we passed through it.”

Lacierda also asked the public for their patience regarding the construction of the new expressway.

“We would ask for the understanding and support from the general public,” Lacierda said. “In the end this will benefit us in the long run.”
