From Feb. 1 to Feb 9, 1971, students from the University of the Philippines who formed a “Diliman Commune” occupied the Diliman campus and barricaded roads to protest deteriorating conditions in the country during martial law. Philippine Constabulary and police troops entered the campus days later and dislodged the students.—Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
