No threats, signal jamming at Black Nazarene feast

MANILA, Philippines—The Palace on Wednesday said there are no known threats to the Black Nazarene procession on Thursday, which is expected to draw millions of devotees.

“Wala namang ganung klaseng banta (No such threat),” presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said in a Palace press briefing.

He also told media that there are no plans to use signal jammers, unlike in previous years.

“Walang ganong plano (There’s no such plan),” he said, stressing that since there are no threats.

Nevertheless, he said the Philippine National Police and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will be deployed to maintain peace and order.
