Bansalan cops nab suspect in drugs

BANSALAN, Davao del Sur—Police here arrested a suspected drug pusher, which police officials said was the local police force’s first achievement for 2014.

Senior Insp. Jeffrey Latayada, town police chief, said police arrested Julie Laspoña, 33, who was caught in a buy-bust operation.

Latayada said Laspoña was arrested after she handed over a sachet of suspected “shabu” to an undercover policeman.

PO2 Niño Rey Roble said Laspoña had been under surveillance for weeks before the buy-bust operation.

“We had to be careful because she is a big-time pusher,” Roble said.

Laspoña also yielded two larger packs of suspected shabu.

Charges have been filed against Laspoña at the municipal prosecutor’s office. Inquirer Mindanao
