P15T awaits 15k winners in today’s Osmeña Run

AROUND 800 runners headed by Mary Joy Tabal and Mendel Lopez will answer the starting gun for today’s 16th Don Sergio Osmeña Sr. Run at the Lapu-Lapu Street, Cebu City.

Eldibrando Velasquez, Cebu City Sports Commission executive director, confirmed that around 800 have enlisted for the running event that pays tribute to Cebu’s Grand Old Man, the late Sergio Osmeña Sr., who is celebrating his 133rd birthday today.

The starting point of the running event will be at his birthplace in Lapu-Lapu Street and finish at the newly renovated Plaza Independencia.

The top placers in the 15k will take home P15,000.

Also, this event is the only one in Cebu that offers a category for runners aged 45 to 69 years. This gives senior runners a chance of winning.  CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
