Manila traffic rerouted Wednesday for morning Black Nazarene procession
MANILA, Philippines—The Manila Police District on Tuesday advised motorists in Manila to take alternate routes because of the thanksgiving procession in honor of the Black Nazarene on Wednesday, Jan. 1, which will start at 8 a.m.
In its advisory, the Manila police told commuters to expect heavy traffic.
The procession’s route will be Plaza Miranda through Villalobos Street, then left to C. Palanca Street through under Quezon Bridge, left to Quezon Boulevard, right to Arlegui Street up to Nepomuceno Street to C. Agila Street. It will turn right to Carcer Street to Hidalgo Street through Plaza Del Carmen.
From Plaza Del Carmen, the procession will turn left to Bilibid Viejo through G. Puyat Street and will turn to Guzman Street (Mendoza Street) then back to Hidalgo Street to Quezon Boulevard, then toward Palanca Street and Villalobos Street, then back to Plaza Miranda and Quiapo Church.
All vehicles coming from Espana going to Quiapo area via Quezon Boulevard are advised to turn left to Nicanor Reyes, right to Claro M. Recto to point of destination.
Also, all vehicles traveling via Andalucia going to Quiapo area shall turn right to Fugoso, right to Oroqueta to point of destination.
