Mayor Binay deserved some courtesy, says Vice President
MANILA, Philippines—Makati City Mayor Jejomar “Junjun” Binay Jr. deserved some courtesy.
This was the statement of Vice President Jejomar Binay on Thursday in response to the criticisms against his son after a report came out on the local official’s alleged confrontation with security guards in Dasmariñas village in Makati City.
Earlier, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that Mayor Binay ordered the arrest of three security guards in an exclusive subdivision in the city when the guards refused to allow his convoy to pass through a restricted gate.
The Vice President said the Inquirer’s report was distorted.
He said his son recounted the story the next morning after the incident.

“Why is there an issue with Senator Nancy? She was just with the convoy,” he said.
Senator Nancy Binay earlier said the issue has long been settled and forgotten.
Vice President Binay has been eyed by the United Nationalist Alliance to run for President in the 2016 elections.
