Rizal Park lensman killed

/ 03:08 AM December 04, 2013

A shot to the head was enough to kill a Rizal Park photographer but the gunman apparently wanted to make sure and emptied his gun by firing more bullets into the victim’s body. When found on Monday night in an alley at Gasacan in Baseco Compound, Port Area, Manila, Alberto Dizon’s body bore gunshot wounds in the head, chest, arm and jaw.

Senior Insp. Melchor Villar, Baseco Police Community Precinct chief, told the Inquirer that they were looking at a longtime dispute as a possible motive for the killing of the 50-year-old victim. “Some of the people we interviewed are pointing to a certain Jose who is believed to be carrying a personal grudge [against] the victim,” Villar said.

But he added that this was still being verified since many of the witnesses were afraid to come out for fear of being targeted next. Based on the report of SPO2 Ronald Gallo of the Manila Police District homicide division, Dizon was on his way home from work when he was cornered and shot at 8 p.m. on Monday in a dark alley, a few blocks away from his house. The gunman immediately escaped.

Gallo said they were able to identify the victim through an identification card placed in his pockets. Dizon’s sister, Lucyla, also arrived at the scene and positively identified him. Scene of the Crime Operatives found four shells from a .45-cal. pistol near Dizon’s body.—Maricar B. Brizuela
