Typhoon victims get family tents

REPRESENTATIVES of the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) and the Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) distributed more than 1,500 family tents to the victims of typhoon Yolanda in Botigues, Lipayran, Mambakaw Dako, Mambakaw Diyot, and Circulo, the islets of Bantayan Island last Nov. 24.

IRW, the biggest Muslim nongovernment organization in the world based in the United Kingdom, has partnered with RAFI and committed US$300,000 for the foundation’s relief operations. The organization sent a four-man team to join RAFI in the distribution of relief packs in Bantayan.

Aside from the family tents, RAFI and IRW also distributed 3,000 shelter kits to residents of Bantayan island.

IRW likewise financed the distribution of 20,000 relief packs to northern Cebu, Leyte and Samar, and the preparation of 2,000 shelter kits.

Other organizations that partnered with RAFI are Caritas Germany and Impact Foundation Philippines.
