Grenade blast damages new hotel in Iloilo
ILOILO CITY — Two unidentified persons lobbed a grenade at a newly constructed hotel in this city early yesterday, police said.
There were no casualties in the still unoccupied Bali Hotel but the explosion damaged the building, Senior Supt. Marietto Valerio, Iloilo City police director, told the Inquirer yesterday.
Valerio said three security guards inside the building noticed a motorcycle passing the hotel along the corner of Duran and General Hughes streets shortly before they heard an explosion around 4 a.m. The blast, around two meters from the street, shattered glass panels and parts of the building’s stairs.
Valerio said investigators were still determining the identity of the assailants and their motive behind the attack. /INQUIRER
