ROOKIE TERRENCE Romeo had a mediocre performance in his pro-league debut, claiming he got starstruck by the presence of some of the players he idolizes. But in his second outing, it was the 5-foot-11 guard who got everyone’s attention.

Finding his touch from the three-point land, a red-hot Romeo erupted for a game-high 34 points to power the GlobalPort Batang Pier to a 114-100 win over the Air21 Express yesterday in the 39th PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Romeo scored just 15 points in GlobalPort’s 87-97 loss to the Petron Blaze Boosters last Wednesday, where he shot a paltry 5-for-15 shooting from the field, including a 0-for-4 clip from the three-point land.

The ex-Far Eastern University stalwart quickly shrugged off his shooting woes, torching the Express with a 6-for-9 shooting from the field. Overall, Romeo went 10-for-17 from the field. while making eight of nine free attempts in a solid 36 minutes of play.

“I just followed what the coaches told me to do. I also listened to what the senior players had to say and did some extra work in practices,” Romeo said of his stellar performance./EDITORIAL ASSISTANT CALVIN D. CORDOVA
