Suspect in killings arrested

After more than a year in hiding, a man believed to be behind the killing of a woman and her granddaughter in Albay, Bicol, was arrested in Binondo, Manila, on Saturday night.

Arnel Beli Basmayor, 21, of Barangay (village) San Isidro, Malilipot, Albay, was being sought for the robbery and deaths of 61-year-old businesswoman Carolina Miralo and her 6-year-old granddaughter Ma. Feye.

The two were hacked to death inside their home in April 2010.

Basmayor was arrested by a joint team from the Manila Police District and interior department.
