Pre-emptive evacuation in Eastern Visayas ahead of supertyphoon ‘Yolanda’

MANILA, Philippines — Pre-emptive evacuation was made in areas expected to be affected by supertyphoon “Yolanda” (international name Haiyan), the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Thursday.

The following areas in Eastern Visayas have implemented pre-emptive evacuation:

  • Barangay (village) Bangon, Catbalogan, Samar
  • Salcedo, Eastern Samar
  • Guiuan, Eastern Samar
  • Oras, Eastern Samar

Yolanda is forecast to make landfall Friday morning over Eastern Visayas.
