‘Vinta’ leaves 4 dead, 2 missing—NDRRMC

MANILA, Philippines – Four were killed and two are missing in the aftermath of typhoon “Vinta”, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said Tuesday.

The latest fatality was Reynante Binala of Batac, Ilocos Norte. He drowned in Garasgas River.

Three other deaths reported by the NDRRMC were also from drowning.

Two persons were reported missing: Loridel Baldos of San Juan, Abra, who was swept away by strong current, and Jerry Gatan of Cabagan, Isabela whose boat capsized and swept away by strong waves.

As of Tuesday, there were 265,769 persons affected in five provinces of Northern Luzon — with 76,648 staying in shelters.

Nearly 37,000 houses were damaged because of Vinta.

Damage to infrastructure and agriculture cost P223 million in Ilocos and Cagayan region.
