MANILA, Philippines—Romeo J. Sioson died on Oct. 25 at the age of 90.
Sioson, a graduate of Far Eastern University and a certified public accountant, headed his own management consultancy, Minscor, in the late 1960s, and founded and built the biggest motoring service firm, Edson, in Malabon, from which his family hails.
In the late ’50s to early ’60s, he headed the financial services arm of the government firm, Industrial Development Center of the National Economic Council, the forerunner of today’s National Economic and Development Authority. While at IDC, he took management courses at Temple University in Philadelphia, USA.
His government stint was followed by a career in private firms as an executive at Radiowealth and Aircon. He was active in civic groups like the Lions and helped found the Citizen Traffic Action.
His wife Primitiva died last April.
He is survived by his children Thelma, Geraldo and Lourdes, and Louie; sisters Josefina and Nene, brother-in-law Adong, sister-in-law Dr. Guillerma Talag, and grandchildren Luis Carlo, Patrick, Raphael, Luis Gabriel, Juancho and Carmencita.
His remains lie at La Funeraria Paz at Manila Memorial Park, Sucat, Parañaque City. Interment is on Oct. 30 after the 9 a.m. Mass at Manila Memorial’s Bonifacio Chapel.
