Yellow Teams score sweep

THE Yellow Teams swept their Green rivals in the annual Power Forty All Star game last Saturday at the Emilio Jaca Memorial gym in barangay Inayawan, Cebu City.

In the 50-and-above division, Yellow nipped Green, 71-70 in a game that featured several deadlocks and lead changes until former SWU Cobra Cards Vernaiz and Flor Yosores scored crucial shots and freethrows at endgame.

Vernaiz and Yosores led Yellow with 12 and 10, respectively while former SWU pointguard Michael Arias and Jingjing Rama paced Green with 16 and 15 points.

Meanwhile, in the 40-and-below match, Yellow crushed Green, 115-91 with Wewe Cabrera scoring 27 points spiked by 7 trifectas while Alex Mercado added 22 markers. Robert Abasolo and Jingjing Rama paced Green with 31 and 23 points, respectively.

Power Forty president Romy Rama handed the cash, trophies and medals to the top teams and individuals right after the game.

Tournament champion, Park n’ Go Bakeshoppe of Romy Rama received P5,000, HLY Friends of Atty. Flor Yosores got P4,000 while AMBL of businessman Allan Lim and Water Market bagged P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.

Jingjing Rama won the coveted MVP award while joining him in the Mythical Five selection were Robert Abasolo, Michael Arias, Flor Yosores and Erik Abatayo. Former USJ-R player Rey Abarquez won as Best Center, Wewe Cabrera as 3-Point King and Romy Rama got the Sportsmanship Award
