Farmer killed, wife, son hurt

A 64-year-old farmer was killed while his wife and son were wounded after gunmen strafed their house in barangay Cagay in Barili town Monday night.

Fortunato Albiana, 64, was declared dead when he and the other victims were brought to the Barili Hospital.

Albiana’s 59-year-old wife Vicenta was wounded in the right arm, while their 25-year-old son Arnold was shot in the left arm.

The family was asleep when their house was peppered with bullets past 11 p.m. Monday.

Three suspects were arrested by police hours after the incident.

Patricio Manigos Madrid, was arrested in a follow-up operation while his brother Alfred Madrid, 18, and their cousin Noel Lopez Madrid, 20, surrendered to the Barili Police Station. PO2 Richard Cababat said the three men owned up to the crime. Police said a few hours before the attack, Vicenta scolded the three men for playing ‘hantak’ (coin toss game) near the victims’ house.
