Drilon files resolution calling for abolition of PDAF in 2014 budget
MANILA, Philippines – Senate President Franklin Drilon on Monday filed a resolution seeking to “totally abolish” the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF).
Senate Resolution 303 “[expresses] the sense of the Senate of the Philippines to abolish the PDAF in the General Appropriations Act of 2014.”
“To assure the public of the government’s serious commitment and sincere efforts to institute reforms that would establish a tradition of fiscal transparency and accountability, there is a pressing and unmistakable need to abolish the PDAF,” Drilon said in the resolution.
The Senate has been under fire following allegations that lawmakers have been misusing the PDAF with the help of dummy non-government organizations.
Drilon, through media, has been assuring the public that the chamber is pushing for reforms amid the controversies.
