Warrior 50 is organized by Frontrunner Magazine publisher and ultramarathoner Jone Mendoza.  The original plan was to hold a 50-kilometer ultramarathon, but after ultra runner Garry Garcia of Be Resort Mactan plotted and ran the actual race course using a GPS watch, there was unavoidable excess three kilometers.  As the old Cebuano saying goes—“Mas maayo pa’ng magsobra kaysa magkuwang!”

EUF 161 Fun Run

There are so many runs for a cause happening on weekends, sometimes simultaneously on Sundays it’s hard to choose which ones to support.

If you’re a runner on a budget like myself and can only join a maximum of one or two races a month, I suggest you support ERUF 161 Fun Run for the benefit of Cebu’s homegrown rescue group —Emergency Rescue Unit Foundation.  Proceeds from this run for a cause will help the group purchase new defibrillators (paddles that jumpstart your heartbeat in case it stops) for the ERUF ambulances.

Registration for ERUF 161 Fun Run is pegged at P250 for 3k, 6k and 12k categories.  You may register at the ERUF Station in Banilad, Cebu City (across Tinder Box), Lapu-Lapu City (beside the LLC Hall of Justice), and the Cebu City Sports Complex.  The deadlkine for registration will be on Friday, Sept. 9.

Gun start for the ERUF 161 Fun Run will be at 5:30 a.m. of Sunday Sept. 11 at Parkmall, Mandaue Reclamation Area.
