Girl drowns in LAPU resort
An 11-year-old German girl drowned in a swimming pool of a resort in Barangay Punta Engaño, Lapu-Lapu City Thursday afternoon.
The girl was declared dead on arrival at the Mactan Doctors Hospital in Basak, Lapu-Lapu City past 3 p.m. Thursday by Dr. Adoracion Pilapil.
Police said that the girl was with her parents and the pool had a life guard.
PO3 Lydo Pinos said the girl’s parents were confident because she knew how to swim and they were just a few meters away.
Pinos said the life guard told him the girl waded in the four-feet deep water and submerged herself most of the time. When the life guard noted that the girl no longer surfaced after a few minutes, he immediately rushed in but the girl was already unconscious./CORRESPONDENT NORMAN V. MENDOZA
