ZAMBOANGA CITY — Authorities blasted the gate of a house here around 4:30 a.m. Friday, which was allegedly owned by Moro leader Nur Misuari, as they tried to serve an arrest warrant against him for rebellion and crimes against humanity.

“We’ve been knocking on the gate of Misuari, no one came out so we decided to apply (explosives)” Chief Insprctor Ariel Huesca, the spokesman of the Western Mindanao police said.

However, no Misuari was arrested and government security forces who stormed the house on Barangay (village) San Roque failed to find  the Moro leader there, Huesca said.

Local leaders of the Moro National Liberation Front described the incident as excessive even as they said the house didn’t belong to Misuari.
