Soldiers told: Be on duty when carrying guns
DAVAO CITY—Soldiers not wearing uniforms and carrying guns in public will be prosecuted for violation of the nationwide gun ban in connection with the upcoming village elections, military officials said.
Col. Randolph Cabangbang, spokesperson of the Philippine Army, told the Inquirer by phone that while the Commission on Elections normally deputizes soldiers for election duty, they should be in uniform when carrying guns.
“And they should be on duty, too,” Cabangbang said by phone. Allan Nawal, Inquirer Mindanao
