Women writers group turns 22, to launch poetry book

THE Women in Literary Arts Cebu Inc. (Wila) will celebrate its 22nd anniversary on Sept. 29 at Harold’s Hotel.

The program will include poetry readings that revolve around the theme, “Tipping Point.”

A new set of Wila officers will also be inducted.

Wila will also launch Simeon Dumdum’s latest collection of poetry titled “To the Evening Star,” which is published by the University of Santo Tomas Publishing House.

Dumdum, also a Cebu City Regional Trial Court judge, is an honorary member of Wila, the only creative writing group of women in the Philippines since 1991.

Dumdum has published five books of poems and three books of essays. He has won several Palanca awards for his poems and received the National Book Awards thrice.
