1 dead, 2 hurt as wall collapses in Quezon City
A wall of a building in Novaliches, Quezon City, that was being demolished collapsed Sunday morning, killing a passerby and sending two more to the hospital.
Mark Errol Politano, a 23-year-old bank worker and resident of Fairview, Quezon City, died on the spot after strong winds due to Typhoon “Mina” pushed down the wall in Barangay (village) Nova Proper, Quirino Highway.
Alvira Concepcion , 21, the cook of an eatery that was situated near the two-story-high wall, was injured, along with a co-worker identified as Vicente Abaga, 33.
Concepcion was rushed to Bernardino Hospital for treatment while Abaga, a waiter, was taken to East Avenue Medical Center.
“The strong winds pushed [the portion of] the wall [which] did not have enough support,” Superintendent Marcelino Pedrozo, the area’s police station commander said.
Pedrozo urged residents to report dangerous structures to barangay officials or the police for proper action.
