THE PETRON Blaze Boosters tightened their hold of the number one spot pulling off a one-sided 112-87 win over the Barako Bull Energy Colas last night in the 38th PBA Governors’ Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

Padding their winning streak to five, the Boosters improved to a league-best 5-1 (win-loss), scoring successive victories after starting the tournament with an 83-89 loss to the Meralco Bolts.

While keeping their winning run, the Boosters halted the Energy Barako Bull’s own streak at three.

Barako Bull dropped to a two-way tie with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters at second place with identical 3-2 slates.

Petron sealed the outcome of the contest in the first half as it took a mammoth 58-38 lead into the second half.

Petron sustained its relentless attack in the final periods and posted its biggest lead at 75-46 in the third.

Import Elijah Millsap led the way for the Boosters with 31 points and nine rebounds.

Arwind Santos added 20 points, making nine of his 12 attempts, while Chris Lutz tallied 19 points and six assists for the Boosters.

Mike Singletary paced Barako Bull with 26 markers and 10 boards while Danny Seigle contributed 18 and Ronday Buenafe chipped in 16.
