USC 5 eyes 2nd win in SBP

/ 06:25 AM August 31, 2013

THE Small Basketeers of the Philippines (SBP) squad of the University of San Carlos (USC) seek its second straight crown in the Cebu leg of the 2013 Milo-backed Best Twin Tournament when it tangles with the University of the Visayas (UV) in the finals today at the USC North gym along Mango Avenue.

USC has been undefeated in both the Cebu and Visayas legs for the past two years. So dominant has this squad been that it has suffered just one loss in the aforementioned stretch and this was to the mighty La Salle Greenhills in the championship game of the nationals finals last year.

So far, USC is tipped to take the crown after sweeping through the rest of the field by averaging 54 points a game while holding opponents down to just 24. It also beat UV, 47-25, in their only encounter in this competition. In the game for third place, Don Bosco Technology Center faces off against Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
