Hi, Janet
The country may have witnessed the transformation of President Benigno Aquino III that would disprove those who accuse him of Noynoying.
But please, Mr. President, you owe the country an explanation on why you played the role of chief sheriff with Janet Napoles.
Palace spokesman Edwin Lacierda in a press conference the morning after her surrender, said you went ahead of the convoy that brought Napoles to Crame. For what, to serve as an advance party?
Lacierda tried to justify the action by comparing it to the role of your father, the late Sen. Benigno Aquino Jr. during the attempt to arrange the surrender of Luis Taruc to President Ramon Magsaysay, but that’s a wrong comparison.
According to Lacierda, “There is a history of presidents receiving a surrendering fugitive. This is not the first time and we will list to you the instances where a sitting President has received a fugitive.” That’s not convincing.
Last week, at the height of tropical storm Maring, you were not seen up front, where people were looking for the man in charge. In the sinking of the MV St. Thomas Aquinas that claimed more than 90 lives and left 40 more missing in Cebu two weeks ago, we did not hear a word of comfort for the victims from the Palace.
Article continues after this advertisementMay we ask, did you make an effort to meet with the whistleblowers of the pork barrel scam?
Article continues after this advertisementThey gambled with their lives when they spilled the beans on their former employer and revealed the web of corruption that extended to legislators, agency bureauracrats and fake NGOs. Now that it’s Janet’s turn to cry about fearing for her life, she has your undivided attention.
While many do not want to believe that your leadership style has anything to do with delays and empty gestures – Noynoying – Mr. President, the people need a better explanation for your trip to Camp Crame Wednesday evening.
Tell us if you are mad with the National Bureau of Investigation for their failure to serve the arrest warrant for Janet Napoles.
Tell us why you didn’t send Police Director General Alan Purisima instead to fetch Napoles from a cemetery.
We wonder why, according to Lacierda’s acount, you bothered to personally inspect the room in Camp Crame where Napoles spent the night of her arrest to make sure it was “safe”.
Citizens are in need of clarification.
Please assure us that your actions last Tuesday evening were not an elaborate version of “Hi, Janet” as a sequel to “Hello, Garci.”
