3 suspected drowning victims found in Laguna
CAMP PACIANO RIZAL, Laguna—Three persons believed to have drowned at the height of flash flood triggered by heavy rains were found dead in Calamba City, Laguna before noon on Tuesday.
Senior Supt. Pascual Muñoz, Laguna police director, said in a telephone interview that three bodies, two of them female and one male, were found around 11 a.m. in two separate locations in Barangay Looc and San Cristobal in Calamba City.
Police investigators were still in the area determining the victims’ identities, he said, but initial descriptions fitted those of three college students of the Adventist University of the Philippines in Silang, Cavite, who were reported missing since Sunday morning.
Muñoz said a group of AUP students, who went camping over the weekend, reported to a unit of the police Regional Public Safety Battalion that three of them went missing at the height of strong rains. The missing students were all described to be around 18 years old.
