Cyber lab for police eyed in Cebu

/ 08:15 AM August 25, 2011

Capitol officials will sit in with police officials to draw up plans for a “cyber-laboratory” to deal with the rash of cyberpornography cases in the province.

Supt. Gilbert Sosa, Chief of the Anti Trans-National and Cyber Crime Division of Camp Crame, proposed this to Cebu Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale in last Tuesday’s opening of the Cyber Crime Investigation Seminar at Camp Sergio Osmeña Sr.  Magpale wrote Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia about the proposal which she welcomed.

“Together  we can work with the National Police’s anti-transnational and cybercrime division in building the lab which falls squarely into our campaign against criminality,” Garcia said.

The governor said she will meet with Senior Supt. Patrocinio Comendador, Cebu provincial police chief, to discuss the proposal.  Correspondents Carmel Loise Matus and Norman V. Mendoza
