DFA cancels passport processing due to rains, floods

MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) cancelled work Monday including the processing of passports in light of the rains and floods caused by tropical storm “Maring” (international name Trami).

“No work at DFA today. All those with passport appointments in DFA NCR offices today will be accommodated when work resumes,” DFA spokesman assistant secretary Raul Hernandez announced in a tweet.

“Passport applicants are requested to bring proof of appointment scheduled today when applying for passport,” he said through his twitter account @ dfaspokesperson.

Local government units and schools throughout Metro Manila have also suspended classes due to the rains.

“Maring” which is situated northeast of Batanes, continues to enhance the southwest monsoon bringing rains throughout Luzon. It is expected to linger in the Philippine Area of Responsibility up to Thursday, according to the
state-run weather bureau.
