Floods submerge parts of Metro Manila

MANILA, Philippines – Several areas in Metro Manila remained submerged in as high as chest-deep floodwaters due to continuous heavy rains throughout Sunday night  until Monday morning, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said. In a Twitter advisory at 10:45 a.m., MMDA said chest-deep floodwaters were recorded at Zapote/ Jollibbee/Tramo/Tuazon while waist-deep floods were seen at Taft-Kalaw Orosa, Jose Abad Santos-Tayuman, SM City-Sucat, and Moonwalk Alvarez. Knee-deep waters, on the other hand, submerged Quezon Boulevard Paterno, Quezon Boulevard Soler, Manila City Hall, Quirino Extension/U.N., Malugay Mayapis, and Baragay (village) Yakal. Rizal Recto, U.N. Avenue, and Jose Abad Santos-Batangas had half-tire floods, and a little bit higher at the westbound lane of Recto Avenida. Gutter-deep waters, meanwhile, affected Recto Morayta, Jose Abad Santos-Tayabas, eastbound lane of Recto-Avenida, Taft-Quirino, Multinational and Pasong Tamo.

Flooding in different parts of Metro Manila started Sunday afternoon following intermittent rains.
