Rain-swollen Binga Dam releases water

MANILA, Philippines – Binga Dam in Benguet opened four gates Monday afternoon as water in the reservoir swelled due to rains spawned by typhoon “Labuyo” (international name Utor), the state weather bureau said.

Binga had four gates open at 3 meters, as its waters reached 574.74 m, nearing its maximum level of 575.00, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said in its 4 p.m. update.

Meanwhile, water level in Magat Dam in Isabela was recorded at 188.01 m, also close to its 193.00 m spilling level.
