With lesser number of lands to distribute, DAR to decrease personnel soon
MANILA, Philippines—The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) will gradually decrease its personnel in the coming months.
Agrarian Reform Secretary Virgilio delos Reyes told members of the House committee on appropriations they would be employing less workers as part of its rationalization plan.
Delos Reyes justified the move by explaining that DAR only had little left to distribute under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
But he said they would increase workers in areas where the agency still had a lot of work left in terms of land distribution.
Anakpawis Representative Fernando Hicap however called the said rationalization plan a “mass lay-off” and said that it would affect DAR’s 7,000 workers.
