Tension grips Manila hospital after man stabs self over wife’s suicide

MANILA, Philippines — Tension gripped the emergency section of a government hospital in Manila early Wednesday when a man stabbed himself in the neck after his wife, who he found hanging inside their house, was declared dead on arrival.

Police Officer 3 Jupiter Tajonera of Manila Police District-Homicide division said Ricky Bedonio rushed his wife, Ruby, to the Sta. Ana Hospital from their house at Lotus Street in Punta, Sta. Ana, Manila around 2:40 a.m.

Tajonera said Ruby,30, allegedly killed herself after being frustrated over her husband’s bad habits.

After his wife was pronounced DOA, Ricky pulled out a piece of broken glass from her pocket and stabbed himself.

Security officers tied down Ricky to a bed to calm him and have his wound treated.

Tajonera said, however, that they would investigate Ricky for his possible involvement in his wife’s death.
