Investigators are looking into the possible involvement of a former policeman from Caloocan City in the shooting of Letran cager Franz Dysam and his live-in partner.

Senior Supt. Bernard Tambaoan, San Juan police chief, did not identify the policeman although he said the suspect’s last name was De Guzman.

“I have already asked the Northern Police District to turn over the profiles of all their men with the surname De Guzman,” he said in a phone interview.

He added that the information which was still being verified came from sources whom he did not identify either.

One of those sources was a relative of Dysam’s partner, Joan Sordan, who was killed in the attack.

According to the police, Dysam said the former policeman had threatened to kill him if he did not end his relationship with Sordan, a casino financier.

The couple were in a car on their way to Letran for a victory party when two men on a motorcycle opened fire on their vehicle. Dysam, who was driving, was hit six times while his partner sustained a lone gunshot wound which led to her death.

Dysam, meanwhile, was recovering in the hospital after doctors removed four of the bullets from his body the other day.
