Heated argument drives man to kill son in Quezon City
A 49-year-old construction worker repeatedly stabbed to death his own son and namesake following an argument inside their house in Quezon City.
Alexander Dingcong Sr., a resident of Hilltop Street, Mindanao Extension in Fairview, fled after he attacked his 20-year-old son Alexander Dingcong Jr. who died Monday morning while undergoing treatment at East Avenue Medical Center (EAMC) due to multiple stab wounds in the head and body.
PO2 Jogene Hernandez of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said the assault happened around 5 p.m. on Sunday inside the Dingcongs’ house where father and son were having drinks with a friend.
Hernandez said that during their drinking binge, the younger Dingcong told his father that he was going to Barangay (village) Payatas, which the older man forbade.
According to the case investigator, based on a witness’ account, Alexander Jr. threw something at his father, leading to an argument between the two men.
At the height of the heated exchange, the older Dingcong grabbed an icepick and attacked his son, repeatedly stabbing him in the back, chest and head before fleeing.
Article continues after this advertisementThe victim was brought by his neighbors to Commonwealth Hospital and later transferred him to the EAMC where he was declared dead by doctors at 2 a.m. Monday.
