Another fire in Cebu slum
CEBU CITY—Hundreds of persons were left homeless on Wednesday after a fire razed 150 houses in a densely populated area in two barangays here.
A teenager was hurt in the fire, which triggered the suspension of classes at Carreta Elementary School in Barangay Carreta, after the blaze ate the roof of the school’s four-story building.
The Philippine Red Cross said 17-year-old RJ Cuevas was injured in the left leg after he was hit by a falling hollow block.
The fire broke out at 11:45 a.m. from the two-story house owned by Violeta Ligan in Sitio Ponce Dos, Barangay Carreta, said Cebu City fire marshal Senior Supt. Aderson Comar. It was put out after about an hour. Jhunnex Napallacan and Chito O. Aragon, Inquirer Visayas
