MJDL cagers claim crown

The MJDL Titans captured the championship in the Cebu Customs Invitational Tournament 2013 after they swept the Cebu Inter Port Users (CIPU) with a 70-57 win in Game Two of the best-of-three finals series at the Benedicto College gym in Mandaue City.

Unlike Game One, wherein the Titans struggled before eventually winning, the Titans took the fight to CIPU right away and dominated the match from the second period onwards to register the lopsided win and hoist the crown.

The Titans were barely ahead, 17-14, after the opening canto but revved it up in the second behind the efforts of Jhaymar Elloren and Noel Medalle that led to a 43-27 halftime lead.

CIPU could not figure out the Titans’ relentless full-court press resulting in turnovers that led to a 26 second-period points.

In the third place game, Philhealth defeated Bureau of Customs (BOC), 85-74, via the leadership of Sherwin Arco, who had 24 points. Kern Sesante led the Portmen with 14. /Correspondent Jonas Panerio
