New PNP spokesman named
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) announced Tuesday that it has appointed a new spokesman.
Senior Superintendent Wilben Mayor will be replacing Chief Superintendent Generoso Cerbo Jr., who was promoted as the Deputy Regional Director for Administration of Central Visayas Police Office.
Mayor, a lawyer and a member of Philippine Military Academy Class 1985, will serve as the spokesman of PNP chief Director General Alan Purisima.
Mayor used to be assigned at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group before he was named as provincial director of Benguet and later chief of the Valenzuela City Police.
Senior Superintendent Reuben Theodore Sindac, PNP-Public Information Office chief, earlier said the appointment of both a spokesman and chief of the PIO is an attempt to improve the communication group of the PNP.
Sindac will be in charge of the communications and press releases as well as daily media briefings while Mayor will be the one to speak in behalf of Purisima.
