7 arrested for drugs
Seven men were picked up by the police before dawn Monday during a raid on a house in Tandang Sora Avenue, Quezon City, believed to be a den for drugs and illegal gambling.
Quezon City Police District director Senior Supt. Richard Albano said members of the District Anti-Illegal Drugs (DAID) unit arrested Esperidion Adriano, 52, also known as Jojo Ahas, after he sold a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride, or “shabu,” worth P1,000 to an undercover policeman.
Senior Insp. Roberto Razon, DAID chief, said they recovered 10 grams of shabu worth P39,000, drug paraphernalia and a video karera machine inside the house.
Arrested with Adriano were Jerome Velasquez, 26; Alfie Manalang, 18; Jake Manalansang, 30; Esperanza Cruz, 44; and Adriano’s two relatives, Octavio Adriano, 47, and Bonifacio Adriano, 38, who were all caught in the act of using drugs.—Julie M. Aurelio
