Gadget salesman killed; body found under mattress

The body of a man who had been stabbed to death was found hidden under a mattress at a hotel room in Quezon City.

Mike Tengco, 47, from Tandang Sora Avenue, Gloria 2 Subdivision, was discovered a day after he checked into the hotel on Edsa, Barangay (village) Philam.

Police Officer 3 Erickson Isidro of the Quezon City Police District’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said that according to a witness, Valencia checked into the hotel on Friday to sell electronic gadgets, mostly cell phones and laptop computers, to a female buyer.

When his body was found at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, the eight cell phones and two laptop computers he had with him were gone.

Hotel staffers cleaning the room found the body inside the wooden bed frame when they lifted the mattress and immediately reported their find to authorities.

Isidro said that the body bore several knife wounds in the chest. A five-inch knife believed to be the murder weapon was also found in the room.
