Parents of abandoned girl sought

/ 06:44 AM July 04, 2013

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development in Central Visayas (DSWD) is requesting the assistance of the public in locating the parents of Jessan Lara.

Lara was born on Sept. 11, 1998 to Alberto O. Molejon and Maria Lucena Lara of Jayme Compound, barangay Tipolo, Mandaue City.

Two days after her birth, her mother left her to the care of her niece, Shiela Sericon. Jessan’s parents were already separated then.

Sericon treated Jessan like her own child. She sent her to school and provided her with all her needs.

FEATURED STORIES

When Sericon married Brent Dennis Gerrior, both of them continued to rear the child. Until now, the only parents that Jessan knows are the Gerrior couple.

Sericon and her relatives continue to locate the whereabouts of Jessan’s parents but to no avail. She also wrote Maria Lucena a letter but Lucena did not respond.

The DSWD is requesting Maria Lucena to contact social worker Jenneth Robles-Aquino of the DSWD 7 on M.J. Cuenco Avenue corner General Maxilom Avenue, Cebu City at 4167646 within one month from this publication. Otherwise, the department will formally declare Jessan Lara as abandoned and eligible for adoption.
