Davao transport leader shot dead
DAVAO CITY – A lone gunman killed a transport leader while the latter was leaving his house in Maharlika village in Matina Aplaya at around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Chief Supt. Ronald dela Rosa, Davao police director, said the victim, Antonio Ortega Pitalcorin, 56, was treasurer of the Metro Davao Transport Cooperative (Medtransco), and a former leader of the Transmission-Piston group.
Police said a lone gunman approached the victim as he was leaving his house, and peppered the victim’s body with bullets. Then, the gunman left on foot toward a waiting motorcycle and fled.
Police said they were still investigating the incident.
