Father of 4 needs help with dialysis expenses
From being his family’s breadwinner, Jadore Bandong’s responsibility, it seems, has been reduced to being his wife’s helper selling bread due to chronic kidney disease that hit him last year.
A former jeepney driver plying the Cubao-Crame area in Quezon City, 39-year-old Bandong said that due to his condition, he now merely serves as his wife Almira’s assistant in selling sandwiches, native cakes and other “recess” fares near the vicinity of their children’s school in Cubao.
“I was caught unaware. Life was already hard then, but I thought I was having a good time raising our four kids, until this ailment struck me,” Bandong said.
He is asking financial help from Inquirer readers to defray his dialysis payment which runs at P24,000 a month, P48,000 in two months, and so on. “I will be under medication for the rest of my life,” he said.
It was a good thing, he said, that his eldest daughter, Jaira Ann, now a college student, has obtained a scholarship from the City College of Manila.
