Roxas administers oath to Magpale, Mayor Nito

INTERIOR and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas administered the oath of office to Danao City Mayor Ramon D. Durano III yesterday in Danao City.

Roxas said he was grateful for being chosen by Manong Nito to swear him into office.

“It is an honor to administer this oath taking to Manong Nito (Mayor Ramon D. Durano III),” Roxas said.

Aside from Mayor Durano, Roxas also administered the oath of office to newly-elected officials of the 5th district of Cebu, majority of whom are from the Barug Alang sa Kauswagan ug Demokrasya (Bakud Party).

The tie-up of the two parties Barug and LP during the elections resulted in victories for officials running in both parties.

” I am very happy that majority of the winners in the 5th district are from the Bakud Party and I hope the partnership of LP with them will continue” said Governor-elect Hilario Davide III, who is also the LP chairman in Cebu.

Davide will take his oath of office at the Capitol today with Secretary Roxas to administer his oath.

Rep. Ace, Vice Gov. Magpale sworn in

Congressman-elect Rep. Joseph “Ace” Durano of the 5th district, Bakud chairman, was the first to take his oath, followed by Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale, PB Members Jude Durano Sybico and Miguel Antonio Magpale.

Newly-elected Vice Mayor Ramon “Red” Durano also took his oath of office yesterday.

Eight other mayors from the 5th district also took their oaths of office. They are Lissa Marie Durano-Stregan (Sogod) , Butch Sepulveda (Borbon) , Martin Gerard Villamor (Carmen) , Dan Jusay (Catmon) , Joel Quino (Compostela), Jet Fernandez (Pilar) , Erwin Yu (Tudela ) and Aly Arquillano ( San Francisco). Eight vice mayors from different municipalities also took their oath together.

Roxas urged the new officials to serve the people well.

“If you want to succeed in governing your people, then think about the welfare of your people. It should be a win for the people and not of politicians,” said Roxas in Tagalog.

The oath taking ceremony was held at the Sto. Tomas de Villanueva Church in Danao City.
